Kevin & Claire are very pleased to be assisted by such a young and dynamic, wonderfully talented team of people, who earn their full time living teaching.
Claire Hutchinson -
Hello I’m Claire and I’m the principal at MAD Theatre Workshops.
I began my performing career at just 16 years of age and have been lucky enough to work and travel extensively throughout Britain and abroad as a singer and production performer in shows and on cruise ships. I have had the pleasure of working with some of theatres finest performers over the years and opened MAD ten years ago to pass on my love and knowledge of the Performing arts to the next generation. I believe MAD is the ideal place for your child to explore their own creativity, to feel safe and to be encouraged to be themselves in today’s conforming society.
Kevin Hutchinson -
Kevin grew up as a friend of the late great Mick Ronson of David Bowie fame who gave Kevin guitar lessons and they also worked together. It’s no wonder that he grew up to be a professional singer/musician who has appeared all over the world with some of the biggest stars in show business. Kevin also has extensive recording experience and has also appeared on television many times in programmes such as Coronation Street and Harry’s Game as a professional actor. Kevin loves singing, playing the guitar and passing on his knowledge to youngsters. Kevin also teaches at MAD for tots along with Claire.
Laura has been with MAD for eight years and came to us straight from gaining her BA in dance.
Laura’s commitment and enthusiasm for working with young people is a great asset to MAD and she has created some memorable routines over the years from a wide genre of dance. Her personality is infectious and the children have a real bond with her.
Laura is extremely respected by her peers and teaches/choreographs extensively outside of MAD with companies like Tailgate theatre and is also an A level dance assessor for national education.
Eleanor has been performing on stage for many years (even though she is still only 20) in venues such as the O2 arena London, Hull Truck and Hull New Theatre and is currently training at the prestigious London College of music in Musical Theatre.
Already she has performed a main role in the Sound of Music and as a lead role in Singing in the Rain, and during the summer she was chosen by the National Youth Musical Theatre to appear in the new musical Brass at the Hackney Empire.
Eleanor loves teaching musical theatre and watching children grow in confidence. She regularly commutes to MAD from London as she thinks the children at MAD are worth the journey.
Francesca is currently studying for her A levels at Wyke college in subjects which include Drama, Music and Dance. She regularly performs with her guitar as a singer songwriter under the name Frankie Flowers and wishes to pursue a career in the Performing Arts. Francesca loves watching the children’s confidence grow from week to week.
